3 needles broke pulling thread through the first hole.
These needles work just the way they are supposed to. I would order them again when needed.
Certainly easy to thread with such a large eye. I am stitching through punched holes from a Pricking Iron. I'm whip stitching with sinew to maintain that 1700's effect on my projects. I can say after about 10 holes, I've already bent 4 needles and broken 3 of them. I've used this brand of needle before and had the same issues. I think Tandy can do better? I use Johnson needles from England for saddle stitching with regular thread and have NEVER bent or broken one, but my sinew won't fit through the smaller eye, so I went this route. Very disappointed in Tandy.
Don't know what happened to Jean, these needles are great. I always pre-punch my stiching holes - if I can't, I use a sewing awl - so there is no real strain on them. Trying to use them to punch through leather is the only way I can see them failing, barring the odd manufacturing defect.
The eye end of the needle broke off while I was using it for the first time. Brand new needle - 9 to go. Will see how the others last.
